1. Major Character

• The Professor:

-Aged 50 to 60

• Polite Person
• Timid Person
• Very proper person
• Very much the teacher
• Uncontrol person
• During the lesson, the professor becomes more and more sure of himself. More and more nervous, agressive, dominating, until he is able to do as he pleases, who has become in his hands in pitiful creature.

2. Minor Character

• The Pupil
• Aged 18
• A well-brought-up girl
• Polite girl
• Lively girl
• Gay
• Dynamic
• During the lesson her face must clearly express a nervous depression. She become more and more passive until she is almost mute and inert object.
• The Maid (Marie)
• Aged 45 to 50
• Diligent
• Care person. Especially to the professor.

2. Setting

1. Setting of Place

The setting is in the office of the professor.

2. Setting of Time

The drama happened in June 1950. The drama happened in the morning, it can be seen when the maid and the professor greeting the pupil “Good morning”. It also can be seen in the scene that state “the sky is grayish-blue”.

3. Plot

1. The beginning

It begins when the pupil come to the professor house to get a lesson.

2. The middle

In the middle, it consist of complication or climax of the drama. The complication is when the professor give the the pupil the linguistic and comparative philology subject. The professor explain to the pupil about that subject and give an example how to some word pronounce in different language. The professor doesn’t like if when he give an explanation there is someone interrupt his explanatin. The pupil get an toothache and always interrupt his explanation. From that, the professor getting angry. And then the professor killed the pupil.

3. The end

The drama will end when the profesor and the maid burrying the death, his pupil body who killed by him. And when the maid open the door for the new pupil that come to the professor house to get a lesson.

4. Theme

The theme of the drama is the unpredictable desease of the professor.

1. The set dressing which is shown in the drama are : woman’s cap, apron, smock, a small white collar, satchel, pince-nez, a black skull cap, a long black schoolmaster’s coat, trousers, shoes of black. tachable white collar, a black tie,
2. The propes are: table, notebook, buffet, books, blackboard, piece of chalk, plate, knife, pots, pans, chair, skullcap, armband, doorbell.

2. The Conclusion

The conclusion of the drama is about man and society.
